Is stress really linked with alopecia?

I read so many research or the likes... not really sure if those are peer-reviewed or something but they all keep saying stress is the cause of alopecia. Is this real? I noticed when my dad died in 2018 I got really bad hair falls... I'm balding and is this my go-signal to chase happiness instead? :(

Stress definitely plays a role in hair loss, but it's not the only factor. Genetics, hormones, and overall health are big players too. Losing hair after something traumatic like losing a parent makes sense, it's a lot to go through. But don't use it as an excuse to drop everything and chase some elusive "happiness" without looking at the bigger picture. Focus on taking control where you can, and don't ignore the other possible causes.

I agree stress can absolutely trigger hair loss, especially the kind called telogen effluvium, where a stressful event shocks your system and pushes a bunch of hair into the shedding phase and it usually shows up a couple months after the stress hits. But since 2018, it might be something deeper like androgenic alopecia or even autoimmune stuff like alopecia areata.

I agree, people often blaming stress on everything, when there can be a bigger factor for this

I've wondered the same thing! Stress messing with hair loss seems legit but it's hard to know if it's the main cause or just one piece of the puzzle
