Hey all, just joined the forum and wanted to say hi. I've recently started noticing some patchy hair loss and after a few visits, my doctor mentioned it could be alopecia areata. Still in the early stages of figuring things out, but it's been a bit of a mental rollercoaster cos I'm losing my confidence yunno, I'm still young
Anyway I havent started any treatments just yet, still trying to learn more and hear from people who've been through it. What helped, what didn't, and maybe how you got your head around it all (no pun intended).

When young, I used to stress out a bit, but now I just let my hair down (no pun intended). The "new" solution nowadays is hair transplants, which seem to work pretty well for those who go that route. I didn't, since I was never a big fan of hair anyway... but it's always a possibility.

There are pretty good treatments like steroid shots or others just focus on stress management and letting it be, anyway you're in the right place, I'm sure others can and will still also share what worked for them

Welcome! You've found a good place for support and the replies here offer great perspective. Your initial diagnosis is a tough pill to swallow and the mental rollercoaster is something everyone here understands.

My best advice is to focus on what you can control, not what you can't. You can't control the hair but can control your response, knowledge and style. Learning all you can about the condition is a huge first step in taking your power back.
