I've had Alopecia Universalis for 5 months now, and most days, I lose the urge to go out and interact even with my old friends. Everything just happened so fast.. I'm honestly still in denial until I look myself in the mirror..

How are you all coping with this? Because I'm really struggling.. even physically, because I don't really know how to feel even about wearing wigs or accessories to just make me look "beautiful.." Some days, I don't even feel like I'm a woman..

Sorry for venting out... I just really need an outlet.

You're not alone in this. Alopecia hits hard and adjusting takes time. When I first lost my hair, I avoided mirrors altogether but little by little, I learned to embrace what I saw. Wigs and accessories can help. Some feel more themselves but beauty isn't tied to hair. Have you found any small routines or moments that bring you comfort? Even something as simple as a favorite outfit or a bold lipstick can shift how you see yourself. 🫂

No need to apologize, @al1ce_w , this is exactly what this space is for and adjusting can hard and I think most of us here have been in that same mirror, feeling like a stranger, the wigs, scarves, hats, they can help, but only if you feel good in them and it's okay if you don't right now, there's no rulebook for this

Very sorry you're going through this. It's completely normal to feel lost and struggle with your identity after such a big change. Connecting with support groups and communities like this or even just talking to others who've been through it will always help and remember, your worth isn't tied to hair or appearance. You're not alone. Chin up!
