Diagnosed with alopecia 1.5 years ago, my 12 yo niece experienced significant hair loss. Local treatments failed, but specialists in Chicago (Dr. Bonish and Dr. Paller) offered a treatment of monthly high dose Methylprednisolone, Clobetasol foam, and Rogaine, leading to full regrowth, even needing eyebrow trims.

It's a,mazing, the hair loss recurred after stopping treatment, restarting with regrowth. But Eyebrow regrowth is slow.

Monthly steroid doses were increased to bi weekly to combat late month thinning, with manageable mood swings and facial redness as side effects, timed for weekend recovery. We're now exploring root causes with anti-inflammatory herbs (Turmeric, Ginger, Boswellia), dietary changes (reducing unhealthy fats), and plan for heavy metal testing after normal standard tests.

Interestingly, she had H1N1 1 or 2 years before alopecia onset, possibly a trigger. She's otherwise healthy with a good diet and vitamin D supplementation.

I hope everyone who has alopecia will be healthy soon

Thanks for sharing! It sounds like you're handling it all pretty well. It's common for hair loss to happen agian after stoppin steroids.Switching to bi-weekly doses and timing them for weekends is a smart choice

I thingk the herbs, diet changes, and testing plan seem like good ideas too. And you're right, H1N1 might have played a part. Glad to know she's doing well otherwise, hope the hair starts growing back nicely
